Elevated Work Platform (EWP) "SILVER CARD" / Unit Standards NZQA.

WHY: Assist the process of ensuring compliance with the Health and Safety at Work Act. 
Where On your site if 4+ operators or at our premises in Lower Hutt ( Subject to numbers of operators and Machine availability /type required)
NOTE: Currently we conduct regular courses through MAC ACCESS in PETONE.

COURSE LENGTH: 1-2 Machines all day
PRE-REQUISITES: Operators must have a good understanding of both operation and knowledge with the machine (s) they are to use. Must be over 15 years of age.
WHAT IS INVOLVED: 3 and half hours theory session including a assessment paper. Followed by practical(s) on the required Elevated work platforms. (This is all unit standard based assessment).

Central Group in association with HIANZ is proud to offer this unit standard based course which has been
produced by the Hire Industry Association of New Zealand (HIANZ) and with assistance from WorkSafe NZ (formerly MBIE, DoL, OSH)
and the Elevating Platform Association of Australia (EWPA).

This is a recognized training program in NZ and is a nationally accepted NZQA level of assessment.   

Course Details:
This Training program has 3 parts to it:
1. A theory session.
2. A theory test  (open book) which has both multiple, true & false plus written questions.
NB: All Operators receive a manual to keep on safe operation of EWPs.
3. Hands on practical instruction in the safe and efficient operation of the appropriate EWP.

3. Safety Features, Controls and Operation.
4. Pre-operational Checks
5. Operation of EWP’s.

The EWP unit standard for the required Theory component is:
1. 23966: Describe types of Elevated Work platforms (EWP’s) and legislative requirements for
their use. (This unit standard is a Theory based unit and takes about 3 - 4 hours to deliver)
(The above unit standard is compulsory and is a prerequisite to the following units below

Practical units that may  / can be assessed:
2. 23960: Assess the worksite, prepare and operate a self-propelled scissor lift EWP.
3. 23961: Assess the worksite, prepare and operate a truck mounted EWP. 
4. 23962: Assess the worksite, prepare and operate a self-propelled boom lift EWP.
5. 23963: Assess the worksite, prepare and operate a trailer mounted EWP. (Cherry Picker).
6. 23964: Assess the worksite, prepare and operate a vertical lift (personnel lift) EWP.


HIANZ Silver Card:
An operator who successfully completes the course will be registered by HIANZ and receive a Silver Card. This Wallet sized card will carry the operators photo and state classes of EWP they were assessed on.
NOTE: 
These cards at present have an expiry date of 3 years from the date of issue by HIANZ.  
  
(Please note these cards take up to 2 weeks to process).

NB: All Operators receive a manual on safe operation of EWPs.
